Board of Directors

The Board of Directors for CGESD meets once per month on the third Wednesday. Meetings begin at 7:00 p.m. and are held in the ESD Board Room (400 East Scenic Drive, Building 2, Floor 2, Room 2.204, The Dalles) or hosted by component districts with in the boundaries of Hood River and Wasco Counties. Meetings hosted by the component districts allows our Directors to visit those we serve.

  

 


  Board Chairman - Paul Zastrow    

Paul represents Zone 7, Hood River County (voting precincts 3, 7, 9, 10, 11, and 12), where he was employed as a teacher for 29 years. He has been retired since 1998. His concerns regarding school funding lead him to join the board and have also taken him into state politics. To quote Paul, "When a state like Oregon has such a sound economy, it is a shame that we have not addressed school finance solutions or ensured that the children of Oregon have an adequate educational opportunity.

 

 

 

Board Vice- Chairman  - Wayne Huskey   

 Wayne represents Zone 2 (voting precincts 1, 5, and 7) and the North Wasco County School District #21. He has strong ties to the community and is a great advocate of parental involvement in education. Wayne served on the Chenowith and North Wasco County School Board of Directors for 18 years. His concern is always, "What is best for the kids?"

 
        

 

 

Scott McKay, The Dalles, represents Zone 1, located within the boundaries of North Wasco County School District #21. This zone represents Wasco County voting precincts 2, 3, and 6. 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Suze Nigl, Hood River, was appointed to the Zone 5 position in September, 2007. This position represents Hood River County voting precincts 4, 6, 8, and 13. Ms. Nigl is currently retired, but previously worked for the Hood River County School District for 28 years. She is very familiar with the schools and community in Hood River County. She is also a member of the Hood River County Education Foundation Board of Directors, Odell Lioness Club, and Hood River Valley Christian Church Board.

 

     

 

 

 

 

Clinton Johnson, The Dalles, represents zone 3 in Wasco County (voting precincts 4, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, and 14). He was elected in May 2009 to the CGESD Board. Clint is a former graduate of The Dalles High School and feels that providing diverse, engaging educational opportunities to all students should be a priority. 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Charlene Fort, Hood River, represents Zone 6 in Hood River County (voting precincts 1, 2, and 5). She was appointed to the CGESD Board in June 2012.  

 

 

 

     

 

Susan Gabay served as Columbia Gorge ESD's Advisory Board Member for employment and social services agencies since 2000. She is responsible for informing and attending meetings of social service organizations throughout Wasco and Hood River Counties. Susan advises the ESD Board each month on issues relating to those programs. She was appointed to represent Zone 4 (an at-large position) in February 2012.
