In May, the Migrant Education Program took 10 families, 20 parents, 10 preschool children, and 10 elementary school children on a field trip to the Portland Zoo. The visit started with families exploring the park on their own until lunch. After lunch, Macry Piza and Alfonso Sanchez led activities with the Preschool children that included book readings, and taking photos. After the scheduled activities, parents had the opportunity to finish exploring the Zoo with their children. The field trip was an enriching, collaborative out of the classroom experience for all. Migrant staff also took advantage of the captive parent audience to get feedback on the Migrant Preschool program.
