Did You Know?
Columbia Gorge Education Service District serves as the monitoring agency for the Oregon Department of Education in Wasco and Hood River Counties.
A parent whose child is 6 years old on or before September 1, and who is to be home schooled, must notify the local ESD of their intent within 10 days of beginning to home school or withdrawing their child from public or private school.
Testing is required in grades 3, 5, 8, and 10 grade unless they are participating in athletics, then testing is required annually.
If your student wants to participate in sports, you should contact your local school district for eligibility requirements.
Columbia Gorge ESD may only accept testing from agencies or private individuals that are on the Oregon Department of Education's Home School Testers list. For a current list, click on the link below (under Resources) to the Oregon Dept. of Education home-school web page.
School districts are not required to award credit toward high school graduation while being home schooled. You may wish to discuss this with the principal of your neighborhood school if you plan to attend.
