Education and Innovation’s small but mighty staff works on a variety of topics to support local schools and educators. One of the key areas of support is mentoring, which is the focus of two Education and Innovation staff.
Theresa Peters of CGESD mentored 6 novice administrators in North Wasco County School District over the past year. She met individually with the administrators for a total of 107 times to discuss and reflect on a variety of vital topics. These included supporting students and staff, developing a school culture and climate of caring, and building sustainable structures and systems.
Hailey Elliott mentored 16 novice teachers in North Wasco CSD. Since January she has met with teachers weekly to reflect on classroom management, planning, and instruction. In addition, Hailey observed the teachers over 220 times and provided data on their instruction and student engagement.
CGESD also trained 8 full time North Wasco teachers to provide additional mentoring.
