Students in Outrigger Canoes

From July 10-21, 2023, 52 Native American Students from the CGESD region attended Native Culture Camp. Students took part in a number of culturally and linguistically appropriate activities with Sahaptin language imbedded and participated the following: cultural reflection circles, jewelry making, hand drum making, wing dress making, ribbon shirt making, Wapas (native basket) making, breechcloth making, moccasins, painting, native foods, singing and dancing. They also were able to get a day on the river with kayaks, outrigger canoes, and stand up paddle boards. The Native Culture Camp ended with a community meal and a powwow.
