Four Rivers

Last month, Four Rivers Family Early Learning & Parenting Hub partnered with Play & learn @Home to pack and deliver over 180 backpacks with school supplies for local children graduating from preschool, 90 of which graduated from a Preschool Promise site!

Four Rivers Family works with local early learning systems to ease the transition from preschool to kindergarten. Every child has remarkable potential to learn and succeed. By supporting our earliest learners and their families, we believe we can help families thrive. By preparing backpacks so each child is equipped for their first day of school, while also easing the financial burden for families, Four Rivers Family is working to make a difference.

Investments in early childhood development lay the foundation for school readiness by building cognitive and social skills that children need to do well in school and in life. Preschool can help your child prepare for kindergarten.

Preschool Promise is a publicly funded program offered by the Department of Early Learning and Care that provides free, high-quality preschool to Oregon families with children ages 3-4 living at or below 200 percent of the Federal Poverty Level. Preschool Promise programs operate from various settings that include child care centers, homes, culturally specific programs, Head Start programs, school districts, educational service districts, and community-based organizations to best align with families' needs and preferences.

“We are so proud of all the children that graduated preschool in our region! Parents, families and providers are working hard, and we want to celebrate our littlest learners. We appreciate the endless hours that preschool teachers and parents are devoting to their students’ success,” says Four Rivers Family Director Shira Skybinskyy.
